Overview

The Display settings control the layout and appearance of public Kraken Careers pages.

Go to Careers → Settings → Display.

Global Options

Content Width

Content Width controls the width of the Careers content area.

Available options are:

  • Match Site Width: Uses the site’s normal content width.
  • Wide: Uses the site’s wide content width.
  • Full Width: Uses the full available width.
  • Custom Width: Uses a width that you enter in pixels.

Custom Width

Custom Width appears when Content Width is set to Custom Width.

Enter a value in pixels. The accepted range is 0 to 9999 pixels.

The custom value changes the Kraken Careers content area. It does not change the width of other website content.

Landing Page Layout Options

These settings control the public Careers landing page that lists available jobs.

Heading

Use Heading to set the main heading shown on the Careers landing page.

The default heading is Careers.

This setting changes the Careers landing-page heading. It does not change the WordPress page title or browser title.

Content

Use Content to add introductory text above the job listings.

The editor supports formatted content. Use it for a short introduction, hiring information, or application instructions.

Leave the field empty if no introductory content should appear.

Content Layout Style

Choose how job listings are arranged:

  • Grid: Displays job cards in columns.
  • Row: Displays job cards in a single vertical list.

The default layout is Row.

Number of Columns

Number of Columns controls the number of columns used when Content Layout Style is set to Grid.

Available options are:

  • 2 Columns
  • 3 Columns

This setting does not change the Row layout.

Hide Search Filters

Enable Hide Search Filters to remove the search and filter sidebar from the Careers landing page.

Clear it to display the available search filters beside the job listings.

Hiding the filters does not remove jobs or change their visibility.

Custom CSS

Use CSS Editor to add CSS rules that change the appearance of public Kraken Careers pages.

The field accepts CSS rules. Do not include a <style> tag.

Example:

.kc-job__list--grid {
    gap: 2rem;
}

Keep selectors scoped to Kraken Careers elements so the rules do not affect unrelated site content.

Custom CSS can change job listings, landing-page elements, application forms, and other Careers components. Theme styles, plugin updates, or cached styles can affect how custom rules are displayed.

Save and Check Your Settings

Select Save Settings after making changes.

Open the public Careers landing page and check that:

  • The heading is correct.
  • Introductory content appears as expected.
  • The content width matches the selected option.
  • Job listings use the selected Row or Grid layout.
  • The selected column count is applied to Grid listings.
  • Search filters are visible or hidden as intended.
  • Custom CSS changes appear without affecting unrelated content.

Check the page at desktop and mobile widths.

Troubleshooting

Custom Width Has No Effect

Confirm that Content Width is set to Custom Width.

Enter a value between 0 and 9999, save the settings, and clear any page or stylesheet cache.

The Page Still Uses the Site Width

Check whether Content Width is set to Match Site Width or Wide. Those options intentionally use the width values supplied by the active WordPress theme.

Select Full Width or Custom Width if the Careers content needs a different width.

The Grid Shows One Column

Confirm that Content Layout Style is set to Grid.

Number of Columns does not change the Row layout. If Grid is selected, check whether custom CSS or theme styles are overriding the Careers grid styles.

The Number of Columns Is Ignored

The column setting applies only to Grid listings.

Select Grid, choose 2 Columns or 3 Columns, and save the settings.

Search Filters Are Still Visible

Enable Hide Search Filters, save the settings, and reload the public Careers landing page.

Clear page cache if the previous layout is still being served.

Search Filters Are Missing

Clear Hide Search Filters and save the settings.

Search filters appear on the Careers landing page when the filter controls and job data are available. They do not appear on every individual job page.

The Heading Did Not Change

Confirm that you edited Heading under Landing Page Layout Options and saved the settings.

The setting changes the Careers landing-page heading. A WordPress page title or theme heading may be controlled separately.

Introductory Content Is Not Appearing

Check that the Content editor contains saved content.

If the content is saved but hidden, inspect the page for theme CSS or custom CSS affecting the Careers description area.

Custom CSS Does Not Apply

Check that the CSS is valid and does not include a <style> wrapper.

Confirm that the selector matches the current Careers markup, then clear browser, page, and stylesheet caches.

A theme rule with greater specificity can override a plugin rule. Narrowly increase the selector specificity when necessary.

Custom CSS Changed Other Site Content

Review selectors that are too broad, such as h2, .content, or a.

Scope the rule to a Kraken Careers class, for example:

.kc-job__wrapper--archive .kc-job__list {
    gap: 2rem;
}

Remove or narrow the rule, then save the settings.
